I think it’s safe to say that women everywhere are fed up. We’re well into the 21st century and yet we’re still using painful, uncomfortable under-wire in our bras? I mean come on, there has to be a better bra out there, right?
Every year or two a new type of bra comes on the market promising to be the ‘new thing’ for women to wear beneath their garments, but most of the time these supposedly revolutionary bras turn out to be nothing more than false claims and marketing hype.
But you’re in luck – Today is the day when we finally find an answer to your question…
Which bra is the simultaneously the most comfortable and the most supportive?
In this article I’ve taken 2 of the most popular bras and pitted them against each other to see which
comes out on top:
The Ahh Bra vs. Genie Bra.
As you continue reading this article, I’m going to be comparing the Ahh Bra and the Genie Bra across 4 different categories – Support, Comfort, Convenience and Sexiness – and at the end of the review you’ll know which is worth buying, and which is a total waste of money.
Both the Ahh Bra and the Genie Bra feature a similar bra design, and to the untrained naked eye they may even seem identical, but as you’ll soon see they are completely different.
That being said, both bras do have the same principle goal, which is to give you the support of an underwire bra with the comfort of a sports bra. Under-wire bras are uncomfortable, but offer great support; Sports bras are very comfortable, but make you look like a uni-boob…We’re looking for something right in between.
Ahh Bra vs. Genie Bra Round #1:
Support
I will just go ahead and tell you right now that, unfortunately, neither bra offers quite the same bust support as an under-wire or pushup bra. However, there is still a clear winner in this comparison, and that is the Genie Bra.
Despite having almost identical designs, the Ahh Bra offers much less support than the Genie Bra for one logical reason: It’s made with less and weaker fabric. Where the Genie Bra is double layered with the kind tightly woven fabric you might see in a sports bra, the Ahh Bra is made from a single layer of what feels like sheer fabric.
The result is that the Ahh Bra offers about as much support as a tank top without a bra underneath, especially since the “slip proof” bottom line of the bra constantly slides up, making the support worse the longer you wear it. The Genie Bra seems to stay in place much better, and since it’s also made from more, stronger fabric it will just do a plain better job of holding stuff up.
Especially if you’re a larger woman, don’t even think about getting the Ahh Bra. You’ll have to layer at least 2 just to feel like you’re wearing anything.
Round 1 Winner: The Genie Bra
Ahh Bra vs. Genie Bra Round #2:
Comfort
I do have to say that both of these bras are significantly more comfortable, at least right out of the box (I’m looking at you, Ahh Bra), than most of the underwire bras I’ve seen or reviewed.
However, there are a few things that I didn’t like about the Ahh Bra when it comes to comfort:
- Constantly Rolls Up – This means that you’ll be constantly adjusting yourself lest something fall out…Not a good situation.
- Seems to Be Sized Too Small – If you order your t-shirt size like they say on the As Seen on TV bra infomercial then you’ll find that the bra cuts into your shoulders and chest…Again, very uncomfortable.
- Fabric Wears Out Very Quickly - I’ve read multiple bad reviews from women who claim that their Ahh Bra fit was very comfortable out of the box, but within about 2 hours of wearing the bra things started slipping, sliding and stretching. Obviously this makes the bra significantly less comfortable.
The Genie Bra is a very comfortable bra and doesn’t have any of these problems, most likely thanks to the thicker and higher quality fabric used, so I think it’s safe to say that it comes out on top in Round 2, too.
Round 2 Winner: The Genie Bra
Ahh Bra vs. Genie Bra Round #3:
Convenience
This round was actually pretty close between the two bras because they are both much more convenient than the normal snap-behind-the-back bra. All you have to do to put either of these bras on is pull it over your head; it’s literally as easy as putting on a t-shirt.
However, I had to give this one to the Genie Bra for one simple reason: It comes with removable pad inserts.
As I’ll talk more about in the next round of this bra review, the Ahh Bra really doesn’t leave much to the imagination…You can see everything underneath the bra, even if you’re wearing a shirt over it. This means that with the Ahh Bra padding is a necessity.
Conversely, the Genie Bra is thick enough that you actually don’t always need padding, but if you do it’s built right in. Funny how that works, huh?
Round 3 Winner: The Genie Bra
Ahh Bra vs. Genie Bra Round #4:
Sexiness
Let me ask you a question…What’s sexier than wearing nothing at all?
That’s right, there’s nothing sexier. I mean, just ask any guy and they’ll tell you, right?
It’s for this reason that I had to give the Round 4 comparison to the Ahh Bra. Since when you’re wearing it you can see everything, and I mean everything, going on underneath the bra that makes it a pretty clear cut winner.
I hope you can tell that I’m being sarcastic…I just didn’t want the folks who’ve already paid for the Ahh Bra to feel too bad about themselves, so I thought I’d toss them a pity-win.

I whole-heartedly recommend the Genie Bra over the Ahh Bra.
The Genie Bra is more comfortable, it offers more support, it’s more convenient to wear for any occasion, and if you like leaving something to the imagination then it’s sexier, too. There’s no reason to go with the Ahh Bra when given the choice, and I think you’ll find that the only place it belongs is your trash can.
